It's Worth a Shot

The FDA is expecting plenty of flu vaccine this year.

As a result, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) this week recommended that healthcare providers broaden their vaccination services to include people 50 to 64 years of age.

This was not the case a week ago. Although those with chronic diseases, including diabetes, have always been a prioritized group, if you find yourself still looking for a flu shot, give your physician another try.

(The annual flu shot will not protect against the more virulent avian flu making headlines. A vaccine for the avian flu is not yet available.)
