Diabetes Taps American Idol

If you're watching American Idol this season, you may be familiar with two of the male finalists, Elliot Yamin and Kevin Covais.

You may know that Elliot is 27, resides in Virginia, auditioned in Boston, and although never had formal vocal training, has been tagged by the show's acerbic judge Simon as potentially the best male vocalist in the history of American Idol.

You may know that Kevin is 16, from Levittown, NY, and possesses boyish looks and a ballady style that cause Simon to warn his greatest appeal may be among 80-year-old women.

What you may not know is that both Elliot and Kevin have diabetes. Eliot states in his contestant bio that he wears an insulin pump. Both he and Kevin expressed that their greatest obstacle in life has been the management of their diabetes.
