While I'm talking about how food components may affect blood glucose, I thought I'd pass along this news coming out of the Third Australian Health and Medical Research Congress in Melbourne this week. (November 26 - December 1).
Researchers presenting at the Congress are reporting preliminary study findings which suggest components in mangoes may act on the same receptors (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors, or PPARs) as some common diabetes medications. (GlaxoSmithKline's Avandia® acts on PPARs.)
